Dr. Adel Sharif is a Research Director at the Qatar Foundation’s Energy and Environment Research Institute (QEERI) leading the Water Security Grand Challenge. Prior to his current role, he was a Professor of Water Engineering and Process Innovation at Surrey University, UK. Prof. Sharif founded the Centre for Osmosis Research & Application in 2003 and has been its Director since. Prof. Sharif is a founder of Modern Water plc, a London Exchange AIM Market listed company specialized in desalination and renewable power generation. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Advances in Environmental Chemistry, Int. J. of Process Systems Engineering, and honorary Editorial Consultant, Arab Water World magazine. He has over 100 publications; is an inventor and co-inventor of 20 patents and has supervised over 20 PhD theses and more than 50 M.Sc dissertations.
